Picking, cutting, pitting, and storing an avocado

If you answer yes to any of these questions, this post is for you!

  • Have you ever struggled to cut or pit an avocado?
  • Are you unsure how to pick an avocado at the store?
  • Does your avocado turn black quickly in the fridge?

Here’s how to pick and pit an avocado:

If you only need part of the avocado, leave as much skin on as you can. Wrap the leftovers very tightly in plastic wrap, making sure to push the wrap into the dip made by the seed. Air is the enemy of your peeled avocado!

After wrapping it tightly, put the avocado in a flat-bottom container on the cur side.

Though the avocado may still get a tiny bit of darkness on the cut edges, it trims off easily with a knife. These steps will help your avocado stay green longer!
